Publication Ethics

Law and Social Development Journal (LSDJ) upholds the highest standards of publication ethics and adheres to the principles set out by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). All parties involved in the publication process—authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher—are expected to commit to ethical behavior and integrity in scholarly publishing.

1. Responsibilities of Authors

  • Authors must ensure that their submissions are original, free from plagiarism, and have not been published or submitted elsewhere.

  • Proper acknowledgment of the work of others must always be given, and all sources should be appropriately cited.

  • Authors should accurately present their research findings and must not fabricate, falsify, or manipulate data.

  • All individuals who have made significant contributions to the research must be listed as co-authors.

  • Authors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest that may influence the interpretation of their work.

2. Responsibilities of Editors

  • Editors are responsible for ensuring the integrity, transparency, and quality of the publication process.

  • Manuscripts are evaluated solely on their academic merit, originality, and relevance, without regard to the authors’ race, gender, religious belief, ethnicity, or political philosophy.

  • Editors must maintain confidentiality of all submitted manuscripts and ensure a fair double-blind peer review process.

  • Editors must take responsive measures when ethical complaints are raised concerning a submitted or published paper, following COPE guidelines.

3. Responsibilities of Reviewers

  • Reviewers assist the editorial board in making editorial decisions and improving the quality of submitted manuscripts.

  • Reviewers must maintain confidentiality of the manuscripts they review and must not use information obtained during the review process for personal advantage.

  • Reviews should be conducted objectively, with clear and constructive feedback, free from personal criticism of the author.

  • Reviewers must disclose any conflicts of interest and decline to review if they cannot provide an unbiased assessment.

4. Responsibilities of the Publisher

  • The publisher supports the editorial board in maintaining academic integrity and ethical publishing standards.

  • The publisher ensures that the journal complies with ethical guidelines and actively works to prevent malpractice, plagiarism, and misconduct.

  • The publisher is committed to maintaining accessibility, transparency, and long-term digital preservation of published works.
